Girls' Club

It's what we call our alone time and a title that she actually started using.  The one on one time is important and it goes further than just the two of us.  She needs it with her dad and grandparents too.

It could be me painting her nails or something as painful simple as her doing my hair.

I could tell last week that she may have needed "girls' club." Lauren had seemed a little jealous that William was getting to hang out with me while she was in school, so we planned a date and went out Saturday afternoon for a special treat.  Deep fried oreos and smoothies at Mae's followed by a little thrifting.

I too enjoy my girly time.  My mom, to this day will say to always make time for your girlfriends.  And this weekend I got plenty of it!  It started on Thursday night with a Stella and Dot jewelry party and continued all the way until Sunday.
Jocelyn and Emma came for a visit on Friday and while the kids played she and I went shopping in my closet.  It might look like a mess, but she was styling me using what I already own.  We got to talk fashion and just sit an catch up over a cup of coffee.  She then joined me for an a$$ kicking on Saturday at my gym!

Saturday night, I was reunited with Beth for some actual face to face catching up!  I really hope we'll see each other over the winter!

Dressed in a Jocelyn original, I went to a Delta Gamma reunion lunch.  It's an annual event that was started a few years ago that I continue to look forward to.  I love seeing old sorority sisters and meeting new ones.

And this year was extra special, there were three ladies who beat cancer.
An extra raw, raw for those dee gee's!!

With Thanksgiving days away, I'm once again reminded just how thankful I am to have so many beautiful ladies in my life.  They all bring something special and unique to the table and I love you all!

Going to the Chapel

This song was playing as I sat on the limo bus next to the bride on our way to the church.  We were all singing with such excitement for what was to come, but it was the hours before that often set the stage.

Getting ready with my girls.  Each of us had our own time for hair and a few of us joined forces for makeup...sometimes you need a little help from your friends.  We don't often get to be "girly" together.

The mother of the bride put out a beautiful spread to fuel us before pictures and the ceremony.  Nibbling and toasting to the bride while telling last minute stories of weddings past was perfect before leaving for the church.

And of course, seeing the bride for the first time.  She was smiling from ear to ear and was cool as a cucumber.  She looked stunning!

The little moments are my favorite.

The evening was spent with many of our favorite people.  We danced and talked...drank, of course, and danced more!

Congrats to the newlyweds!  Thank you for letting us be part of your big day!

XOXO

Weekend Roundup

The weekend started early and ended yesterday.  Full of fun for the kids but some mom time too, of course.

We started Friday morning with a trip to Domino Farms.  It was a gorgeous day so we included a picnic lunch too.

Lauren LOVES her friends Tristan and Tinsley, I have started to joke that she wants to be a part of their family...case and point.

We ended our friday with some singing, dancing, and CHASING.
The Merry Music Maker put on a great show but William wanted nothing to do with the show or sitting with me.

If you're happy and you know it...find the janitor's broom.  Anything and everything that isn't for tots, William wants.

Lauren was ready to run around halfway through as well, but I somehow managed this.  Too bad she is a little blurry.

Saturday night we were a family of five.  We babysat Tyler who was visiting from California while his parents went to a wedding.  He was so good, an absolute delight to have.  Easy going and laid back.  Our kids are CRAZY compared to him.

We were waiting for Kristi to return and Lauren kept saying "I've got my guys."  So cute!

If you're still with me...I know this is long:)

Mother's Day was awesome, one of my favorites.
Nana hosted dinner at her house.  My mom and brothers were included and Lauren got to visit with most of her cousin's.  (Which she said was her favorite part of the day)

Nana orders Chicken Shack and calls it a day.  You help yourself and find a chair.  I do love the fuss that goes into a nice home cooked meal and a beautifully set table, but sometimes simple is welcomed just as much.  It was an afternoon where everyone was enjoying themselves.  I was lucky enough to be able to put my feet up and enjoy a glass of wine.

Thanks for a great Mother's Day, Nana!

To get in one more fix with our
California friends we did an early dinner last night.

Great to see you guys and safe travels to
Nashville!

We were back to our routine today after a week off school, next week is her last week!  I can't believe summer is here!

XOXO

I had the wine of my life

And I owe it all to you:)  Feel like dancing?
Billy and I co-hosted a little wine tasting party with my mom at her house.  Our guests were asked to bring their favorite bottle of red under $10.

The wines were placed in paper bags, numbered, and placed throughout the house so everyone could help themselves.  We had 15 wines and asked everyone to rank their top five.   I was giving detailed instructions here.

It was a great night with a perfect mix of people.  My family loved all of our friends and vice versa.  Hope we can do it again!

After tasting...

And serious tasting.

We had the big reveal.  Here are the winners.

5th & 2nd place: Robert Mondavi, Cabernet Sauvignon
4th place: Apothic Red, Winemaker's Blend
3rd place: Furlan Castelcosa, Cabernet Franc*

*disqualified - wine purchased was $12.99.  Immediately asked to leave the party.

The winner....
Red Diamond, Cabernet Sauvignon.
My aunt found it the next day at Trader Joe's for $7.99

Check out Colin's moustache...he's doing it for a good cause.
Donate here to help him raise funds for prostate cancer.  Movember ends on the 30th.

Let the dance party begin!
Even though hours earlier I realized I was an awful dancer, I decided to be Kevin James and let it all out.  Once you start, you can't stop.

Thanks to mom for opening your doors and to the Crawfords for staying back with the kids.  And of course, thank you to everyone for coming, especially all you late night dancers.  I heard some of you didn't even get out of bed till 2pm.

Roll Tide.
