Outer Banks: Part 2 {Trip Report}

Planning vacations can be so much fun, but also stressful...so why not add the stress of getting the perfect family photo too?  We were due for a family photo session and beach photos in the Outer Banks seemed like the perfect place.
These are all iphone pictures, but I will post my favorites along with how to coordinate outfits in another post...and some other tips that helped us:)
My mom and aunt both picked colors that complimented their skin well, they looked gorgeous!
Wills only lasted so long before getting himself covered with sand.
Mom and Sean post photo shoot!

While the guys fished, the girls shopped and had a little happy hour...
so did the kids, these two were sitting by the bar scoring free drinks with their adorable smiles.
Who could say no, right?
On one of our last nights, Grandma and Aunt Roberta watched the kids so Billy and I could spend an adult night out with Sean and Kelly.  It was fun to explore Duck at a few more adult friendly places.  We discovered some new favorites that will be must-stops!
 Sweet T's had a wine and beer tasting.  The owner is working on her website, so I can't link up.
 And the Backside Bar behind The Roadhouse is quite the hidden treasure.
 Tiki bar, cornhole, firepits, and outdoor tv screen!

OBX never disappoints, already looking forward to our next trip!

XOXO

Outer Banks: Part 1 {Trip Report}

I hope you are all enjoying your summer and had a wonderful 4th of July.  It was great to have the long weekend, but I didn't want it to end.  I just know summer is going to really start to fly by.  It seems like a lifetime ago that we packed up and headed to Outer Banks, North Carolina for a week.
sfdWe made the trip with my family this year and rented a big house so we could all be together, but still have our own space.  This was also the first year we got a house with a pool and it was the best thing.  Throw suits and sunscreen on and you're ready.  While the beach is great, it does take some effort to get there.

I didn't have my camera in hand for a lot of the trip and feel like I hardly captured some of our best memories.  The kids are in a ton of pics, but not much more.  Sorry, Grandma.
We were taking the kids to "fishing" one night off the sound and they were practicing before we left.

This might be my favorite picture of Lauren, those curls are something we recently discovered and she calls the look "summer hair."

We love walking on the boardwalk, taking in the views of the sound and window shopping.  The entire boardwalk is just over a half a mile and going.  Construction seemed underway to make it stretch further.
The kids got ice cream...

and we enjoyed one of our trip musts, Sangria Slushies from Coastal Cantina

 On our last family vacation we coordinated a blind beer tasting, we decided to try it again.  A few winners and losers were brought in:)

There was definitely more relaxation on this trip and I think the pool helped and having extra hands for the kids didn't hurt either.
Even Lauren had the right idea...a little relaxing, a little partying.  I've got a few more pics to post next time!

XOXO
